Four dads noticed their kids eating seaweed sheets and saw an opportunity to create a more snackable version. Mattson formulated a crispy seaweed chip with appealing textures and accessible, trendy flavors. They screened seaweed sources, found a co-packer, managed scale-up, and supervised the first commercial production. Ocean’s Halo launched the Seaweed Chip in September 2013 at Natural Products Expo East, where it won the Best of Press Award. Launched in grocery stores nationwide, including Whole Foods Market, Vons, Safeway, and Fresh & Easy.
