Electrical engineer Rob Rhinehart sought to create a convenient meal replacement that provided all necessary nutrients, leading to Soylent 1.0, a dry powder blend. To enhance convenience, Mattson formulated Soylent 2.0, a ready-to-drink version. Our work included ingredient procurement, process development, flavor optimization, and co-packer search, with successful co-packer trials. Soylent 2.0 launched in mid-2015, gaining media attention and subsequent development of Soylent 3.0 and new non-beverage platforms in 2018.
